/ February 13, 2012So we are told American beef is stuffed with steroids – and this is the country that had CJD in its beef – it got so bad in the 90s that students (and i was one) could buy fillet steak for next to nothing, Basically you don’t know what you’re really putting in your mouth…

/ February 14, 2012Beef and pork have antibiotics added to their diets “because it makes them gain weight more quickly”. Added hormones to beef and pork are not allowed by USDA, though labels will tell you “no added hormones & steriods”, which is meaningless because they aren’t allowed in the first place! It is sad your country’s cattle herds were decimated by the CJD issue in the 1990s. The pathogen responsible is in the US but to date it has not entered the food supply, though there is some concern about hunters eating game animals such as deer. I think it points to the issue of industrial food – what is the true price of what we eat? Thanks for reading the scrounge news. More to come!
