It does seem like Mr. Mike and I have going round in circles backwards. This photo was taken after the positive pole on my battery disintegrated while on the Mobile Bay bridge on I-10 last July. I did manage to coax my bike to a truck route exit ramp. Got it fixed with the gracious help of a fellow biker. More recent challenges have occurred but we have scrounged our way out of them. Once in a while the universe offers a welcome fix to nagging problems. Here is one:

It all started with a trip to Family Dollar. I purchased a black plastic placemat for $1.25 (nothing is $1.00 in there, despite the name) as a scrounge fix for Mr. Mike’s BMW f650cs. His left side cover blew off from the plastic Tupperware body panels somewhere near the Gulf of Mexico (NOT America) coast. Cut to fit the hole and fastened with cable ties, looked tacky but it worked. It cost $150 + shipping to order a new one from BMW. A better solution came from Rob Sant on the BMWf650cs owners group on Facebook. Mr. Rob makes replacement covers using a 3D printer. About 10 days later I received a package from the UK.

Somewhere…

The Scroungelady’s $1.25 fix plus a decal from eBay in Mr. Mike’s Man Cave.

A little sanding plus paint and a decal should get it looking decent again. I will show the finished cover in a future scrounge post. Thanks, Rob! For more information on the Scarver covers, message Rob on Facebook.
